Suicide in Andhra.. Is micro-credit, the reason?

If you ask me a particular case and ask whether the reason quoted as “suicide ” is true, I would say, it seriously needs a detailed investigation.

Let me tell you why it could not be a reason:

1. Politics is completely emotional. If someone, sometime has died because of the pressure of microfinance, there is every incentive for the politicians to gain market and popularity by making it more emotional and try to rope in the other cases also to the same spectrum.
2. There are also indications from Govt to waiver the loans. Hence, there is every incentive for the borrowers to ensure that their loans are waived. It is highly possible only when they are able to prove that the microfinance is making their life miserable.

Why it could be a reason?

1. Investors see lot of profits in the sector. Hence, huge amounts of money are dumped in the sector which results in multi lenders to a particular borrower. Get loan from one source and repay other. Develop internal competition and also the borrowers lose the interest to repay.
2. At the strategy level, one officer lends (based upon his target) and others deals with repayment (based on his target). The one who plans for lending think less about the repayment because of the huge inflow of fund in the sector.
3. The “bread and butter” of the field level staff are highly dependent on the amount he is able to recover from the borrowers. He obviously will make the life of the borowers miserable for his own self-benefits.
4. The microfinance sector is no-more a development strategy. The microfinance sector here is unable to evolve a model similar to that of Bangladesh as the market economy reacted here in a more different form.

Leadership

Who is a genuine leader?

If you ask me, my bookish knowledge says the following:

1. A leader is one who rise up when there are no one to take up.
2. he, who backs up his teammates.
3. When asked, he says, he is just a team player and not a leader.

India-Australia Cricket Test Series was a definite example to showcase the leadership qualities.

I admired the way both Ponting and Dhoni showed their character.
Dhoni proved to be the better one which was known when he put his trust on Pujara and when Ponting neglected to put his trust on Hauritz..

These matches definitely improve the character of the audiences.

Long live these matches!!

CWG and Rural Development

Had I been a CWG organising committee what would i have done?

I was looking at the closing ceremony of the CWG function. It was ecstatic. also, i was looking at the way people admire things.

Suddenly, this came across my mind.

I saw my friend suddenly got admired about the crackers and was interested and wanted to fire crackers.

At CWG, around 700 crores was spent. But, the outcome benefit.. yeah, ofcourse, there are lot of revenues for the Delhi. And lot of people got employment to organise the things. Construction workers earned some livelihoods in constructing the stadium and buildings. Lot of money transferred to army men for their service. And yes, lot of money were transferred to the poor people who worked on the crackers.

Also, the same time, I was reminded about the social cost benefit analysis. If you spend, one rupee for the rural economy, your economy increases by thrice to what you have spent.

So, how about this idea?

You celebrate CWG with 700 crores. Of course, there are no objections. But spend atleast 233 crores to the rural economy. I doing so, we shall be in a position to get back the economy with all we have spent.

What does that mean?
Promote opening ceremony and closing ceremony with more of Indian rural products. Decorate your stadium with handicrafts made from rural areas.
Replace plastic bags with more human intensive jute bags.
Let people dance in the stadium with bangles.

Also, CWG was one big place where you would have marketed your traditional Indian products very much.

May be, to accompany that, I have to raise up to that level.
May be then, I would be seeing the economy in other lens!!
May be, I decide to close this post now!

Let my country awake!

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow
domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the
dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought
and action--
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

Political - Market survey

I came across an article which talked about the perspectives of people about voting, in a sense, it tries to build a model so as to say who are the people expected to come to polling booth and vote and who doesn't.

I gave it a little thought and tried to utilise this study as a market survey when I enter politics in the future.

Just wanted to share the same here.

Category 1:
There are few people who thinks that their vote doesnt change the country and also some of them believe that none of the competitor will be in a position to become a satisfied ruler.

Category 2:
The other kind of people thinks that their vote is an absolute necessity for establishing democracy in the country.Their single vote can change the development of country and hence their vote carries so much weightage.

It can be concluded now that category 2 people will come to poll booth and vote somehow and they would vote with full seriousness to the candidate whom do they think as deserved.

The category 1 people, as guessed would not like to waste their time to come to polling booth and vote.

Conclusions:
If we want to impress everybody with the campaign, it may not be possible to win the elections. ALso, if we gonna bribe all of them also, victory may not be possible.
Do the market survey, classify, category 1 and 2.
Impress category 2 with the proper campaign and maximise the votes.
And for category 1, there is a need to provide incentives.

Management marketing techniques in Politics could turn to be an absolute weapon. Let us see the results when I implement it.

Cheers!!

The political Dimension

Today, I was fortunate enough to attend a meeting where all administrative big bosses and the political big boss sit together and review the progress of government intervention.

I came across this fight between political and administrative setup which perceives the development in different phases.

Basic assumptions:
Both players act genuinely.
Both players try to maximise the values in their lines of setup.

Yes, to come back to the discussion.

SSP is a flagship program in AP which give pensions to 70 lakh beneficiaries every month.
Physically challenged people are also given pension through this scheme and only they receive a 1.5 fold extra amount of pensions than other. Hence, the basic rule of greedy and needy always tries to come under physically challenged category and receive extra amount of pension.
1) Because of this, there are wrong inclusions.
2) Because of the first category and limited budget, the deserved people are not able to get pensions.

Now, there is this software and diagnosis by doctors which identify and classify the physically challenged category.

Ofcourse, all the people want to come under category.
THe testing and identification of physically challenged takes place in 4 phases and it takes 4-5 months in total.

But here the question is, whom to be tested First: the new applications or the existing ?
Administrator wishes to test all the people who have identified themselves as physically challenged already and receiving the pensions. The reason is quite clear. Testing on them, will result in eradication of wrongly included pensioners and hence saves the money for Govt. Which means, as an administrator, he can maximise the residual fund and use it for other schemes.

Politicans ,on the other hand thinks that there is absolute need to test the new applicant first. The reason follows the development orientation. Developmental law does say that there can be people who can be wrongly included but any deserved candidate should not be left out. It also affects the political will power of the particular politicians for excluding some of the deserving candidates.

If we follow the administrator path, then what about developmental law ? if we follow the politician path, what about budget?

The question remains unanswered.!

Diff levels of thinking

Like most of us, I question often about the presence of God. And the level of thinking on GOD has varied in years.

Stage 1:
As mamma pappa says, GOD is everywhere. Go to temple. Pray GOd. If you do any wrong, God will take yur eye out and give punishment.

Stage 2:
God, yes, it is there. Pray sometime. But do work.

Stage 3:
I do not say that God is completely absent. But, if we try to find logical solution for our appearance, there is supernatural power behind us which is ruling the life of everyone.
May be, that supernatural power can be called as God.

Stage 4:
It is a human tendancy to find a logical conclusion for everything in the world. Hence, when he tries to find a logical solution to his birth etc, he is left no where.
SO, to use it as a filler, he is forced to assume of supernatural power and that is named as GOD.
If let us assume, that there is no need for a logical solution, then, will there be a necessity to think and react. Remember, Human beings react only when there is a logical solution to any activity.

Stage 5:
Still to be explored....!

Civil society in Govt institution - The real combo

I was looking at this song anbe sivam, where the kid who was killed during the accident was brought to his parents. They cry. It brings emotions around the people.

I always think myself as an administrator and have this thinking within myself.

Govt institutions cannot serve deeper but they serve mass. Say, if you look at a programme or scheme, it is designed for mass.. crores and crores of people. Some people are considered to be test samples. it is a known fact that some people suffer because of it.

But, who is there to answer this?
I mean.. who is there to serve those people.
You could ask why do I ask this question. Look at this way, a pin can punture a tyre and a puncture tyre can ruin your day and a day ruined may ruin your life.

So, atleast to serve your self, it is a hard accepted fact, that as a government institution, you have to serve the total and not just the masses.

But whats the strategic thinking i have in mind..?
Lemme share it here.

I have a strong opinion that civil society emerged from the society are supposed to be the best friend to the people and ensure that all people are living at comfort level.

I mean to say, as an govt institution, they should bring in the civil society into them, so that govt doesnt benefit only masses but to the deepest level possible.

This is where the emotional of one who would have overturned the entire institution could be saved.

Its just that we need to recognise more ppl and give them, the opportunities..!
